Outsource your Chores

Now more than ever in the racing twenty first century, is time is a more valuable commodity than money?  One of life’s fundamental problems is that you can spend lots of time on tasks that don’t gain you a great deal.  Whilst you could be making plans for greater things, the chores and housework take up too much time to allow you to concentrate on that.

One of the many ways in which you can waste huge amounts of time is on computers; this is contradictory, since they were created to save time.  However most people long ago realised that an awful lot of time can be spent on irritating tasks such as saving, moving and renaming files and folders.  If you can get rid of some of these tasks, then you can instead spend more time with your friends and family, work on your next business idea or just enjoy your hobbies.

If you have a big photo or music collection for example, a lot of time can be wasted because you will probably have to rename files quite a bit.  You can’t totally dump this task, but you can make sure you spend minutes on it instead of hours when organising your collections.  And one of the issues in this area is finding an easy to use batch file renaming programme; many are quite tricky to understand. So what to do you need to look out for?

Its important to be able to carry out your renaming jobs swifly and easily with any software to batch rename files. But you must also look for extended functionality, like the ability to add increasing and decreasing numbers and dates, if you want to maximise your investment.  A useful ability is to be able to change or clone the created, modified and last accessed dates of files; if you are restoring files from backup, this is especially useful.  You’ll find that the file was created after it was last modified, and sorting it out can be impossible!

Of course the software should take plain text and add or remove it easily from the names, and try to make sure you can get a preview - if you rename a thousand files incorrectly and find the mistake all over your computer you won’t be very happy!  And its important to be able to change file and folder names, extensions or both at the same time with any file renamer software you use.  Managing to find one which renames thousands of files in thousands of folders at once is even better!

So remember to look not just for ease of use in software to rename multiple files, but extensive functionality that will help you cut hours of chores into minutes, and use the free time you’re left with for maximum effect.
